blogging in the classroom.

blogging can be an effective tool in education.  there are many ways in which it can be used both inside the classroom and as a tool for students at home.  here are just a few ways that i could possibly see myself using a blog as an educator...

1. having a blog is a good place to put lesson plans for the day and what was discussed in class as well as homework assignments.  this is useful because sometimes when students are at home doing homework, they more not remember in detail what they did in a certain class.  having access to a blog to see what was covered and what is expected of them before next class is beneficial.  students can also leave comments on each post if they have questions.  that way both you as the teacher and their fellow peers can answer the question.

2. a teacher's blog can also be the place in which online discussions take place among students.  this way all the students have access to discussions and can see what all of their classmates are saying in one place.  it also saves the teacher time because all the posts are in one spot.  he/she would not have to look in a bunch of different places to see who has/has not participated in the discussion.

i also looked at some social studies teachers' blogs.  these are the ones that i liked the best.  this one is more for teachers and lesson planning. This blog is a great resource for how to structure a blog for your students to use to post assignments and sources. This is another great example of using blogging as a place to post lesson plans.

those are just a couple examples of the many ways in which blogging can be a useful tool in educational systems.
